Summary of Position

As an experienced, commercially focussed and pragmatic HR Consultant you will provide advice and guidance to a range of clients. You will help them manage their HR and employment law issues appropriately for their business needs. Although primarily focussed on telephone and email advisory services there will also be the requirement to engage with clients on consultancy projects and CPD accredited training throughout the UK. A dynamic and adaptable approach, ability to influence at all levels of business and familiarity with a broad range of sectors would be of benefit.

Core Responsibilities/Frequency %

1. To provide pragmatic and legally compliant HR and employment law advice via the telephone advice line and email correspondence. 30%

2. To update and maintain accurate call records and case notes on the GoldMine CRM system in real time. Ensure key contacts are up to date and advice notes are detailed and accurately reflect the nature of the issue and the advice given. 20%

3. To deliver consultancy projects and training solutions on-site throughout the UK and from our offices in Rugby. 15%

4. Make regular contact with low use clients and identify opportunities to up-sell added value services such as consultancy, training and health and safety support. 10%

5. To undertake contract and handbook review activities, risk assessing their current provision. Make recommendations for improvements to ensure the client is compliant with their legal obligations and update their online resources appropriately. 10%

6. To contribute to sales and marketing activity by drafting articles and case studies about interesting and newsworthy HR and employment law challenges. 5%

7. To monitor developments in employment law and HR best practice to feed into HR alerts, website and social media. 5%

8. To review and update core policy and contractual documentation for clients on an annual basis and when there are changes to established HR practice and employment law. 5%

Skills and Experience

  • Educated to Degree Level (preferred)
  • Graduate CIPD Membership (desirable)
  • Employee relations/advisory experience essential (including work with Trade Unions – preferred)
  • Up to date HR best practice and employment law knowledge
  • Ability to engage and develop relationships remotely and to pitch delivery to all levels of organisational hierarchy in a broad variety of sectors
  • Ability to forensically analyse details of HR/employment law challenges to determine the root cause of concern, identify risks and provide the appropriate advice
  • Ability to ‘think outside the box’ and not just rely on a script to provide the solution
  • Consultancy exposure of benefit
  • Experienced coach/facilitator
  • Experience of insured professional services would be an advantage
  • Experience of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience of HR/CRM software
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
