Today the Chancellor of the Exchequer announced the new Job Support Scheme being launched with effect from 1 November 2020.
The scheme will be available to all Small and Medium Enterprises, along with larger organisations where their turnover has fallen because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The scheme will depend on employers being able to give employee and workers 1/3 of their normal working hours. The government will then, along with the employer, ‘top-up’ their wages to 2/3 of their normal wages.
Use of this scheme does not depend on claims having been made under the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme previously and both schemes can be claimed against.
The scheme will be available for the next six months from 1 November 2020.
Further details are expected when guidance is released in due course and we will keep you updated.
The Job Retention Bonus remains available, as does the incentive to engage younger people on apprenticeships and kick-starters.
