The modern workplace is highly diverse. With cultural trends and world events constantly changing, it is essential for organisations to make sure their people understand the risks and issues associated with equality and discrimination at work.

Even with a sound policy on equality and discrimination, you can still be at risk of claims based on what your employees say and do to each other. By training your people you might be able to divert liability onto the individual if a claim goes to tribunal.

Over the years, legislation has enshrined protection for people in the workplace into law. It’s vital that organisations and the people within them understand this legislation and what it requires of them.

Our Equality and Discrimination Awareness Course

Our Equality and Discrimination Awareness training course ensures that delegates understand the importance of equality and discrimination, the risks involved, and how they can be mitigated.

We’re experienced in delivering practical training that gets to the root of the matter, so your team understand the importance of abiding by legislation, how problems can occur, and how situations can be diffused.

Why Equality and Discrimination Awareness training matters

Equality and Discrimination Awareness training helps delegates to understand and acknowledge the need for fair and equal treatment, irrespective of age, gender, sexual orientation, or other protected characteristics.

The Equality Act 2010 brought together 116 separate equality and discrimination laws into a single coherent act. The Equality Act includes ‘Protected Characteristics’ that refer to differences between individuals that cannot be used as a reason to treat them differently.

‘Prohibited Conduct’ is also included in the act and refers to actions that individuals are not allowed to commit on the basis of protected characteristics. If this happens in the workplace, the law is being breached and could ultimately lead to prosecution.
